    I don't know if i'd even call the tower a "tutorial level" if i'm being honest. Like yeah: in practice its the player's first exposure to all the mechanics of the game, but it doesn't exactly hold your hand and you can just leave immediately if you want. I viewed the tower more as a starting zone if that makes any sense. I still think its weird that it has enough chips to clear the door to the final boss, that's not exactly great game design, but the game also doesn't bar you from leaving. You're free to collect the chips in any order you want. I think I saved the tower levels for last on my first playthrough on 3DS because I wanted to explore the world first. Objectively, I give this game a 6.5/10. Its haphazardly designed, but I still had a lot of fun playing it and its my favorite game on the 3DS. Pseudoregalia did this concept better though. Automaton Lung's greatest strength is probably its aesthetics along with its collectathon style gameplay and level design. This basically feels like a cross between Metroid and Mario 64. The music is alright. It helps heighten the atmosphere of the game, but the music in the Automaton Heart demo is just leagues better than this.

    Kid Chameleon has soMe ugly grqphics. Think it’s plus was all the levels back in the days, but today I think less is more. First character disappears to give third character more space? I basically always try to level up the other characters more than the main one. So not a bad feature. Guess we had that in phantasy star 3 though.. Wooow! What is shining force doing here!? The game does lack some complexity perhaps…

    The orange and blue fighters are the best vs everything except big bulky enemies like dragons or fortresses. At 200gf points each if you have a full team of these it is very difficult to lose, keep moving, charge b attack after slightly tilting towards the enemy then short burst fly away, you win every time

    If you enjoyed this, then you might absolutely love the first game, as pretty much everybody considers it to be much better overall. Not to mention enjoying the game that is a spiritual prequel that led up to Air Zonk, which is known as Coryoon. The first Air Zonk is built on the bones of Coryoon. The development team that did this(known as Dual), was also responsible for L-dis, Macross 2036, & Psychosis/Paranoia for the TurboGrafx/PC Engine besides other games they worked on. I'll always wonder why Hudson Soft didn't ask the team from Naxat Soft that made the first Air Zonk. According to the sound designer from the first Zonk, he was the only one asked back, but he declined. He didn't say why, but I suppose it might be because of not asking Yoshiharu Takaoka(programmer for Air Zonk) to work on the sequel. Yoshiharu Takaoka had tons of wild ideas, some of which never made it into the first game, so i can only imagine how wild SuperAir Zonk/CD Denjin would've turned out. Im currently hoping he'll consider doing more TurboGrafx games in the homebrew scene. He did release a new NES STG called Habit recently. I've kept in contact with him, so he can be as up to date as possible with the current development tools that are being released, so here's hoping!

    • @SoloWingFury
      @SoloWingFury 10 дней назад

      That's really interesting to hear that, I'm definitely going to have to look into checking out Habit, I love a good homebrew! I'm going to add those others to my list too if I can ever afford them, this console is entirely a blindspot for me, but I'm looking forward to being able to explore more of it, if I'm able.

    • @ParanoiaDragon
      @ParanoiaDragon 10 дней назад

      There's a lot of great games on it, especially on the Japanese side of things since they got far more games. There are a few that only came out in North America, but not many. My opinion of the best western only released game is Beyond Shadowgate(not the modern one, that's a different game). It's a great point & click type adventure, but with an actual attack button. And the graphics are all hand painted, it's quite nice looking. Only thing I wish they had done before releasing it is making the player just a tad faster when walking. But yeah, at this point, a lot of pricey games. Though I think generally speaking, the Japanese release of a game is usually cheaper then the western release.

    • @SoloWingFury
      @SoloWingFury 9 дней назад

      I'm certainly not afraid to import, half of my decades worth of videos are on them. Right now I've got five big cd releases I want to focus on, Last Alert, Rondo of Blood, Kaze Kiri, Winds of Thunder, and Sapphire (But I'll also need an expansion to play it so its a lesser priority). It's a shame about most of the releases being in japan though as an RPG fan, it limits my domestic options to Y's, Cosmic fantasy 2, and Exile i think? I've been looking for ones that communicate with pictographs as another option though I haven't gotten far in that regard. I'm going to need to do a lot more research though, this was literally the start of my PC Engine experience, before this I thought most of the games based on what I saw were super jank platformers like Bravoman or Tatsunoko fighter. So hearing about the strengths and finding like actually good games has been a bit of a surprise to me, but I love discovering all of this history.

    • @ParanoiaDragon
      @ParanoiaDragon 9 дней назад

      @@SoloWingFury ironically, it's actually the TG that got me into RPGs in the first place! Cosmic Fantasy 2 was my first, and these days is definitely on the basic side as far as combat, but that game that opened up an entire genre to me. There's actually quite a few RPGs on the system, just not a lot of them got translated. Depending on your definition of rpg,, in English, there's also Legend of Heroes Dragon's Slayer(sadly the second game never got translated), Neutopia 1 & 2, D&D: Order of the Griffon, Might & Magic 3, Beyond Shadowgate(point & click type), Loom(point & click), Dynastic Hero, Dragon's Curse, Dungeon Explorer 1 & 2, Dungeon Master Theron's Quest, Final Lap Twin(has an RPG mode), World Court Tennis(has an RPG mode), Mysterious Song(homebrew that I helped on), Shapeshifter & Cadash. Not to mention Ys 1-3 & CF 2 obviously. The first 4 Wizardry games are mostly in English, but the 5th game has less English. Fan translations are Ys 4, Startling Odyssey 2, Legend of Valkyrie, War of the Dead, Xak 3, Tengai Makyou Ziria(the first CD RPG ever??), Makai Hakkenden Shada, Bikkuri Man World, Cyber Knight, Out Live, Private Eyedol. Sorcery Saga(Madou Monogatari). There's maybe one or two in here that I might be mistaken about them being fully translated. Then Cosmic Fantasy 1, 3, & 4 are all in English on the Switch. Also, Necromancer has a partial translation. Might & Magic 1 is apparently translated, however, it requires a system card 2.0 that's been hacked to run properly. I'm hoping somebody will get around to hacking that game further so we can just run it with a standard system card. And there's a variety of other RPGs that are in the works as far as fan translations go, Legend of Xanadu 1 & 2 have had a lot of work done on them but are on hiatus. Emerald Dragon, Sindibad, Benkei Gaiden, Anearth Fantasy Stories among others have had work done on them.

    • @SoloWingFury
      @SoloWingFury 9 дней назад

      I am DEFINITELY gonna need to get Dragon Slayer, I thought it wasn't translated, that's super good to know! Neutopias are actually like the only hucards I've really known I wanted, I've played the latter three sequels before that unfortunately got their name scrubbed and were left on nintendo handhelds like a decade later, but I loved those games! I've actually already covered Dynastic hero on this channel, though with a slightly different coat of paint, but I'm a huge fan of Wonder Boy, and I have a deep personal history with Cadash, so yeah I'm going to need to get a hold of that for sure! I recognise some of those names too from my import saturn collection, and any time i get to think of my saturn is a huge bonus. I am going to have to add all of those on to my list. I knew there was a Cosmic Fantasy Collection on the switch, but I didn't realize it was in English, that is VERY useful to know. I'm really curious about that Mysterious Song, hearing about homebrew stuff is always super interesting, and to hear it from a person who directly worked on it is very cool. I'm going to have to make a point in finding it!

Two more that T's Music did that have similarities to each other (but not to the above games)are Cotton and Dungeon Explorer 2. The style of both of them is identical, but definitely has a different sound than Lords of Thunder Etc. you should make a top 10 or top 20 best 360 games in your opinion. not a list of games just exclusively for the 360, but a best 360 games video.

    • @SoloWingFury
      @SoloWingFury 29 дней назад

      In the long term that's actually not a great plan, which is why I specifically didn't do that. If you create lists by X console or Y genre you pigeonhole yourself, and every list you make afterwards will have to be predicated on the previous lists you've made if only to be consistent and not confusing to the viewer. This in turn limits what meaningful content your lists can actually contain as you'll simply be regurgitating your previous stuff, if only to be consistent with you message. e.g. If I made a list on the best xbox 360 games period, it would be largely redundant to make a best of ps3 list because cross platform stuff would likely dominate it, as well as a list for the generation. Whereas with how I've done things I can now make a list on ps3 exclusives, and cross platform games for the generation, with zero chance of tripping on previous lists In addition, if you go with broad concepts like that, you can very easily run out of things you can do for the exact same reason, there are countless websites and channels that start by making lists based on consoles and immediately run out of steam, or ideas, or simply repeat what they've already done. that's why I've always felt it was wiser in the long term to go in with topics as specific as you possibly would make, so as to not end up running out of ideas, or basically making the same thing over and over ad Infinitum. Besides, the whole goal of why I made this in the first place, was that I wanted people to see the things they could only get from this console and why they should care.

    I've got to agree to disagree with you but then agree with you again on Kid Chameleon. Depending on the mood I'm in, I either love the game or hate it. Like you said, it's a game you SHOULD like, but there is just something about it that holds it back. Right now I'm in the it sucks boat, but ask me again in a month when I fire it up again and it might be a different story. As for a top 10 pooper games list for 2024, well I wouldn't say poopy but more like disappointing or boring. 1- Dragon Age the Veilguard (PC) - Was just super disappointing and mostly boring. Forget all the political crap about this game, it's biggest sin is it's BOOOORRRRIINNNNGGGG 2 - Front Mission first remake (Switch) - Nothing wrong it technically, it just didn't grab me like the other games in the series did 3 - Mechwarrior 5 Clans (PC) - Game was fine again, but again the story was boring. They could have done so much more with it, but sadly didn't. 4 - Alex Kidd (Switch Remake) - This was definitely one of the remakes of all time that didn't need to be remade 5 - Adventures of Might Max (Sega Megadrive) - Loved the cartoons and the Toys, but the game not so much. Just didn't capture my attention 6 - Prince of Persia (PC Engine CD) - The nicest looking of the old school prince of persia games, but hot take, I didn't think any of them are good. Was hoping this was going to change my mind..it didn't. 7 - Conkers Adventure (Gbc) - I loathe this game from the bottom of my heart. Thank goodness they released the 64 game because this.. this was a pile of DOO DOO 8 - Aladdin 2000 (Snes) - Chinese bootleg clone thing. It looks amazing. The controls are a total disaster. 9 - American Gladiators (Nes) I don't like sports games. This didn't change my mind. 10 - Sea of Stars (PC) - Hot take. Game is beautiful. Plays well. Story starts off really good. Then it falls off and I started wondering why I continue playing.

      That's it exactly, you should love kid chameleon, but I just can't for whatever reason. I've never really liked the Dragon Age games fullstop. The first one had a great world, but terrible gameplay. The sequel had the inverse problem. The third game was kind of average at both, but was a horrible buggy mess that wasn't properly tested, I have footage of me killing a high level optional dragon at level 1 because no one tested its detection boundaries, or its range vs yours, and your range is further than its fireball iirc, or the time I got to the final room in a DLC by sliding down a wall from the start, it's just bad. I've always wanted to geet into front mission and mechwarrior, it's a shame they're both pretty bland sounding. I never liked Alex Kidd to begin with, and I don't have the nostalgia to meet it on its terms because my SMS had Hang On preinstalled. I can't imagine a mighty max game being good, though I did enjoy the one toy of the series I had as a kid, i think it was a volcano? I don't really get Prince of Persia myself, though I am trying to get into PC Engine CD games, I guess I can cross that one off my list? I always thought the N64 Conker's game was a pretty big pile myself, but I also ran into bunch of softlocks while trying to play it. I only vaguely know that there was a gbc game, though I didn't think it ever got released. There's a few Aladdin bootlegs out there I don't think any of them are all that good, but I only know one company that made really good bootleg games. Same boat, unless the sport is basically removed from the sports game, like that baseball thing i recently made a video on, I just don't get it. I liked Sea of Stars myself, it was on my good list last year, but I can see how people would bounce off it. I really appreciate hearing your picks, it's got me interested in a few things!

    Great list. Kenshi belongs to school of roguelikes know as story generators. Started with Dwarf Fortress, but popularized by Rimworld, Oxygen Not Included, most of Paradox Interactive games like Crusader King's and Stellaris. Hell even stuff like STALKER Anomaly/Gamma. Systems that don't railroad you, instead allow you to make your own stories.

    Nice to see LunarLux in the list. Its on mine, too.^^ And believe it or not, but Lufia II is a huge classic in my country. Anyway, here is my list: 1. Mass Effect (PS4): Finally gave this one a second playthrough. Was still lots of fun. Only the inventory-management is sucky. But the rest is great. It blew me away back in the day. 2. Paradise Killer PS4): Got myself the PS4-version, which was a good reason to give it another playthrough.^^ Still the best Exploration-Adventure! 3. LunarLux (PC): Very fun JRPG, which hit me by surprise. I couldn't stop playing it until I grabbed all the achievements. Hope we get a sequel which finishes the story. 4. Freedom Planet (PC): Pretty hard but very enjoyable Sonic-clone. And that comes from someone who doesn't even like the Sonic-games.^^ 5. Star Wars Episode I Racer (PC): Surprisingly fun future-racer whcih doesn't rely on its license. It is just a very fun game in itself. 6. MediEvil 1+2 and the PS4-remake: I just love the MediEvil-series. I can recommend them all, if you have a thing for fifth-generation Action-Adventures. The controls of these games were much improved from wonky stuff like Tom Raider. 7. Dread Delusion (PC): First Person Action-RPG with cool PSX-style graphics and a highly creative setting with lots of exiting discoveries. Was very surprised, that this depressing game concluded with a happy ending (at least based on the choices I made). 8. Tinykin (PS4): Very fun 3D-platformer with friendly difficulty and a cute idea. I don't like the weird storytwists at the end of the game. Those felt unnecessary. 9. Lost Horizon (PC): Slick Point & Click-Adventure which captures the magic of the old Indiana Jones-movies. It has a very likeable protagonist, too (which is uncommon fpr this genre). 10. Prodigal (PC): Very cool Retro-Zelda-style game with lots of optional content and slice of life stuff like marriages. Absolute hidden gem.

      I've played a few of those. I think the first Mass Effecxt is very clunky, and I absolutely hate the vehicle sections. Its sequel was much better. I've played Paradise Killer as you well know, that game is amazing! Freedom Planet is great, I'm still not sure how I feel about the sequel though. Episode 1 Racer, really was a great game for its time, even though I'm only familiar with the worst version of it, it's surprising there aren't a million sequels to it, just sort of two-ish? I've always wanted to try the MediEvil games, i remember seeing a game in a magazine a long time ago I always wanted to play, but never knew what it was, but I think it might have been that. Dread Delusions was great, I'm glad I found it last year, even though my saves have been wiped so many times I never lost interest in exploring the macabre world! Tinykin was a fun mix of Pikmin and like Banjo Kazooie, it was a fun experience. I played a bunch of Prodigal, I really want to try the dev's next game, they seem to know how to make a solid retro style game.

    The only game I played from your vid is Kid Chameleon. I like the graphics in this game, but the controls are too unprecise, which is a no go for me in platformers. Anyway, here is my list, Fury: 1. Chaos Control (PC-DOS-version): An onrails-shooter with bad graphics and a broken high difficulty. The console-versions for 3DO and Sega Saturn are supposed to be much better, though. But the DOS-version on Steam is pure garbage. 2. Dustborn (PS4): Its basically a shitty version of Life is Strange. It suffers from remarkable unlikable characters and tons of political propaganda. The PS4-version is/was very bugged, too. 3. The Wild Case (PC): Mediocre, short Point & Click-Adventure with very low difficulty and a weak presentation in style of a hidden-object-game. 4. Star Wars Trilogy: Apprentice of the Force (GBA): Mediocre sidescroller with boring graphics and gameplay. 5. Call of Cthulhu: Prisoner of Ice (PC): Mediocre Point & Click-Adventure. It tries to hide its short lenght with mean pixelhunting and time-limit segments which punish you with lots and lots of death. 6. Super Double Dragon (SNES, played the PC-rerelease): Mediocre Brawler with boring graphics and barebones content. 7. Harold's Walk (PC): Well, you played it yourself, Fury. For me it was too average and barebones. 8. Dragon Squadron Danzarb (Super Famicom): An average and linear JRPG with Mechs. It looks ugly, but at least it has a cool story-conclusion. 9. Neodori Forever (PS4): Pseudo-Racing-Game with very cool PSX-style-graphics, neat OST but rather poor controls. 10. Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge (PC): Unlike the first one, this game has a very brutal difficulty. The first one had some stinker-puzzles, too. But the second one is just unfair.

      I think the only game on there i'm familiar with is Harold's Walk, I liked that game myself, though not as much as Automaton Lung. The only issue I had with it was that triple jump they don't tell you about and one of the last levels needs it. I'll keep an eye out for the rest though, and that dragon squadron game could be something i might enjoy.
